"He who pursues righteousness and loyalty finds life, righteousness and honor." -- Proverbs 21:21 NASB Leading the news this morning were reports on a changing relational dynamic between the US and the leaders of Europe. While any relationship is undoubtably bound to ebb and flow over time, the Bible tells us in Proverbs that "he who pursues righteousness and loyalty finds life, righteousness, and honor." The brilliance of this Proverb is the counterbalancing of "righteousness" and "loyalty." If one pursues righteousness without loyalty, he could be easily left standing alone in the cold, or worse yet, mistake sin for seemingly righteous action. Conversely, if one is blindly loyal to a group or a person, he can be led astray to sin without ever considering what is right, and what is wrong. Thus, the Bible calls us to pursue both righteousness and loyalty, so that we always seek fellowship but remain vigilant for what we know to be right. Today, pray for our leaders and the other leaders of the world to pursue righteousness and loyalty.
