Leaking of government secrets is one of the most talked about issues facing our country today. At the heart of this issue is a question of loyalty. We are blessed to live in a free nation, where the ideals we live by are greater than any current or former political leader. For our society to function properly now and into the future, we must remain loyal to our country and to one another. Consider the all-too-common divorced family with children. Is it right for the parents to openly bicker, slander each other, and divulge personal secrets about each other in public? No, because no matter how rocky the relationship between the parents may be, there is a future generation at stake. The actions of the parents directly affect the upbringing of their children. What are the parents to do? In Leviticus 19, God commands us “'You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor; I am the LORD.” What is this really saying? Where we cannot agree, we must still remain loyal to one another. Loyalty can build a bridge where agreement cannot. God willing, the world will live long past the arguments we engage in today. In what sort of world do we wish to raise the next generation? Do not give up on each other and always have faith in Jesus. Pray today for the strength, through Jesus, to forgive those we disagree with and act loyally to our fellow brothers and sisters.

'You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor; I am the LORD.” – Leviticus 19:16 ESV
