Race, our nation's history, and how we can resolve the two has dominated the national conversation since the tragic and horrible events in Charlottesville, VA last week. Sadly, the Christian Church has played a role for both good and bad in that tumultuous history. To believe that evil doctrine of the enemy, that one race is superior to all others, requires a belief that Heaven will be segregated as well--case in point, praying for "thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven." But from everything we know about God, would it really make sense for Heaven to be segregated, or for one race of His creations, made in His image, to be somehow superior to the rest? Of course not. Race superiority is a purely human invention that truly has no place in God's grand design. Revelations, a book written by John based on a vision presented to him by God, clearly states that in the end, "a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages" will stand and praise the Lord in Heaven. This begs the question: If you view yourself superior to the rest the world now, where will you be when the rest are praising Lord in Heaven? Superiority is a symptom of unrepentant sin whose end result is separation from God. Pray today for healing for this nation, for those afflicted by sin to repent from it, and for our communities to draw closer to each other by first drawing closer to Jesus.
