As Southeast Texas and Louisiana continue to be pummeled by the remnants of Hurricane Harvey, more and more stories of both tragedy and heroism are emerging. It is truly a sign of desperate need that the government is calling for anyone and everyone who has a boat, or is able-bodied, to help with the rescue and support effort. However, in every time of desperation, God is there. He has already provided an incredible amount of people with the means and motivation to aid in this tragedy. While all of us cannot physically be on the ground in Texas to help, we can still be the Church that Jesus commands us to be. God will be glorified in this tragedy. The only question is: will you glorify Him? As Jesus said in Matthew 5, we glorify our Father by “letting our light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Pray that God shows you how you can contribute. We all have different abilities, and are called to use them to populate heaven. Today, give glory to God for his faithfulness in this tragedy, and the many amazing stories of love, generosity, and heroism. Pray that God shows you how you can let your light shine before the people of Texas.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16 ESV
