In the last few days, the #MeToo movement has gained national attention by unearthing the staggering amount of women who have been victims of some kind of sexual assault in their lives. The numbers are staggering. Any kind of behavior that assaults, intimidates, or exploits someone is reprehensible and deserves to be exposed. Rather than devolving into verbal tirades and angry rants, the #MeToo movement is calm, righteous, dignified, and most of all, powerful. In James, it says "human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." When we indulge our anger and act from it, sin always follows. Jesus is on the side of the weak, the oppressed, and the subjugated, but when we, in anger, rage against our oppressors, we do not work with Jesus but against Him. The #MeToo movement expresses many ideas, but one thing it represents is that you don't have to get angry to make a point. Today, pray for those affected by senseless sexual assault and give your anger to Jesus so that He may transform it into a righteous path.

"because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." -- James 1:20 NIV
