Another public feud captured the attention of the media yesterday as the lead story, this time between Senator Corker of Tennessee and President Trump. It is disappointing when our leaders bicker and our reporters treat it as the most important news story of the day. Unfortunately, this type of reporting has become the norm rather than the exception. However this isn't solely the media's fault--our leaders' feuds are becoming more personal in nature, which, in turn, cause us to do the same. The Bible addresses the reason we fight in James 4. James contends that the reason we fight is because we have unmet, unchecked, and un-pure desires within us--in other words, our sinful nature. Thus, to overcome the urge to brawl is to turn from sin. To turn from sin is to accept Jesus Christ as your savior and pursue a relationship with Him over all earthly temptations. Today, pray for the strength from Jesus to turn from sin and pursue a life walking with Him.

"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." -- James 4:1-4 NIV
