Happy #ElevatedFriday! This week we highlight the kindness and generosity of a dentist to a veteran in need. After a chance meeting at the gym, retired Air Force veteran David Harmon visited Dr. David Nguyen’s office for a routine cleaning. Dr. Nguyen quickly realized that Harmon needed much more dental work to cure an infection, crowded and cracked teeth, and evidence of a grinding problem. Harmon was in terrible pain from his teeth and the work to fix these problems was going to cost over $15k. Upon hearing Harmon mention that he would need to notify the VA of his need for dental work, Dr. Nguyen sprung into action. Knowing that the serious infection could not wait as long as the VA would take, coupled with the terrible pain Harmon was in, Dr. Nguyen offered to do all of the work for free.

We all have gifts from God. Sometimes it is natural and we are born with them, other times it is skills or knowledge we have gained throughout our lives and work. In 1 Peter it says, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.” As we know, it is better to give than receive. Christ has called us to not only give what we have, but also give what we are given. Today, reflect upon your own God-given gifts and how you can give them to others.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace” – 1 Peter 4:10 ESV
