#ElevatedFriday, December 22nd, 2017

Happy #ElevatedFriday! As Christmas is just around the corner, we wanted to highlight a story of selfless giving. A 9-year-old boy named Mikah from Beachwood, Ohio was set to receive a new Xbox gaming system for Christmas, something he wanted very much. However just a few years ago, his family had fallen on hard times and were forced from their house, living for a period of time in a shelter. During his time in the shelter, Mikah remembered being given a blanket each night but then having to give it back every morning. This year, upon hearing he was receiving an Xbox, which he knew was $300, Mikah figured out that he could buy 30 blankets for that amount of money to donate to the homeless. For Christmas, Mikah wanted to give homeless people a blanket they could keep. Mikah’s incredible generosity, especially for someone his age, did not go unseen. Microsoft, the maker of the Xbox, rewarded his selfless act by giving him an Xbox for free, proving, in this season of giving, that generosity always goes farther than selfishness.

In Luke, Jesus said, Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” While giving in order to receive is not what we are called to do, having a giving heart leads to blessings from our Father. This Christmas, give thanks for the incredible blessings in your life and give back to those who may need a blessing from you.
