Happy #ElevatedFriday! In Charlotte, NC, a high school football coach shares a unique bond with his starting quarterback. Several years ago, Coach Sam Greiner noticed that QB Braheam Murphy did not have a stable home life as Greiner would have to drop him off after practice in varying locations. As a result, Murphy’s grades were very poor; so poor, that Murphy became academically ineligible to play football. Upon seeing Murphy’s struggles, Greiner and his wife decided to take him into their home. Two years later, Murphy is thriving on the football field and in the classroom: he is earning straight A’s and received a scholarship to West Point Military Academy. Most importantly, Murphy has found faith in the Lord, who immeasurably changed his life through the kindness of just one couple.

There are many people all around the world who need help. Whether that be just a simple donation, a hot meal, or even going to the lengths the Greiners did for Braheam Murphy, big change happens through simple decisions to place others before ourselves. In Philippians it says, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Today, make the decision to place the well-being of others before yourself.

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” – Philippians 2:4 ESV
