Happy New Year! January 1st is often a day of action when we set into motion the resolutions we have committed ourselves to. Many choose to pursue career goals, weight loss, or academic achievements. But what if we decided to make it our mission in 2018 to grow spiritually? What if we embarked on a journey to draw closer to Jesus than ever before? If so, how would we do it? That is really the whole point of Paul’s writings in the New Testament—to motivate others to pursue Jesus and educate them on how to do so. In Galatians, he gives such a charge by saying, “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” Make this year the year that you served more, loved deeper, listened harder, prayed longer, and most of all, followed further. Do that, and 2018 will be your greatest yet.

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” — Galatians 5:13 NIV
