With another session of Congress beginning, and a large agenda to debate, the pulse of American politics is rapidly quickening. With it raises the blood pressure of anyone watching the daily news and political discourse. Whether it is the White House, Congress, or the newsroom, something noticeably lacking in these environments is a spirit of love. When we watch the events in Washington and how people speak about each other there, we tend to reflect the same attitude towards those we disagree with in our own lives. How can we change this vicious cycle? Powerful change can’t happen without powerful love. So why should we choose to start loving each other more? Look no further than 1 John 4:19 – “We love because he first loved us.” Today, stand firmly upon Jesus and choose to love because you are loved.
