As Congress debates a solution to DACA by March as well as a budget agreement to fund the government by Friday, time pressures are more present that usual in Washington. Just as in our own lives, it is impossible to tell what will happen and when. We can strive for work projects, sales quotas, or personal milestones by certain dates, but sometimes these things are still out of our grasp when time is up. But Jesus tells us many things about God in the Bible, one of which being the fact that God decides the timing of all things – not us. He says in Mark, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Therefore our 100% effort can still be fruitless without faithful prayer for God to bless our endeavors. Today, give your plans, strivings, and secret yearnings to God and ask for them to be done in His time.
