As the debate over the intelligence memos by both parties intensifies, both parties are showing no sign at backing down from their rhetorical positions. Increasingly, our world seems to be more about winning, succeeding, gaining fame and fortune, or vanquishing enemies than living faithfully and providing just enough to support our own. Many of us heap heavy loads of stress upon ourselves to always be the best, earn more money, or take on more responsibilities. While God’s plan for each of us includes seasons of challenges and hard work, He does not ever want us to lose Him in the pursuit of more in this world. In 2 Timothy, it says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” Life is not about winning. It is about righteously stewarding the blessings and faithfully overcoming the obstacles of God’s plan for you. Today, lay down your heavy load of stress to succeed at Jesus’ feet, and focus your energy on praising Him.
