Over the weekend, a large contingent of students and adults participated in protests across the country for gun control. Such free public displays of opinion is what our country is founded upon, and it is encouraging to see it still alive and well. Sometimes though, on a personal level, some people take their own opinions too far. There are some on both sides of the political divide who seek not to change people’s minds through cogent arguments and reason but instead impose their will on others through surreptitious means. In Luke, Jesus says, “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” When we are striving for something we want, remember that just because someone may be standing in your way doesn’t mean that either of you are any more or less worthy of God’s love. Today, tell yourself throughout the day that each person you meet, hear on TV, or read about online is loved just as much by God as you and see how your feelings towards them change.
