Happy #ElevatedFriday! Today we highlight the inspiring story of how one woman’s Facebook post helped a disabled man find work. Brisbane, Australia native Mathew Magrath moved to Mackay to be closer to family and has had a very difficult time finding work. The 33-year old is confined to a wheelchair from an unfortunate accident 14 years ago and has seen his wheelchair change the way people view him, as well as his employability. What it hasn’t changed is his desire to work hard and support himself in life. Mathew had such a difficult time finding work that he ended up sitting at a street corner with a “Work Wanted” sign. It was there that Katelyn Neal saw him and shared a picture of him to a “Jobs in Mackay” Facebook group. Katelyn said, “I know what it’s like to try to find work and constantly get knocked back. It takes courage to do what he is doing.” Since Katelyn’s Facebook post, Mathew has seen many job offers and interview requests and will be back to work soon.

During his time on earth, Jesus healed countless sick, crippled, or disabled people simply by his command. These people were often those who society had deemed to be “unworthy” or “unfit.” Have we really changed much since those days? How many of us, if we are being honest, still harbor similar thoughts towards people who are disabled? But when Jesus approached these people, he looked straight into their hearts to see their faith. Jesus sees no limitations from our bodies or minds, only our faith. Today, remember that with nothing but our faith and His words, we are healed.

“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7 ESV
