On this Memorial Day, while we enjoy a day off from work and a day doing as we please, we are encouraged to remember the sacrifices of the men and women who gave all they had in defense of freedom and peace. The closest any of us will ever get to Jesus while on this earth would be in the act of laying down our lives for another, as evidenced by the fact that Jesus is the greatest love the world has ever known, and John said famously, “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” But how does God see the sacrifice of a faithful servant in His honor? The answer lies in Psalms, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones.” God loves all his children, but He considers precious the ones who have faithfully given their lives in service of others. Today, pause to remember these men and women, and be sure to consider them as precious to you as they are to God.
