#ElevatedFriday, June 22nd, 2018

Happy #ElevatedFriday! Today we highlight an uplifting story of a very famous person using their platform to point us all closer to God. Chris Pratt, one of the biggest actors in the world (star of the Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy series), is a Christian and has not been afraid to share his faith in the past. This week he accepted an award from MTV for the “Generation Award.” He directed his “9 Rules” for living acceptance speech to all his fans, but specifically towards the next generation. Just like his acting career, his speech meandered between the hilarious and the serious. The highlights included declaring that God is real and loves us, the need for prayer, and the sharing of the Good News – that we are imperfect but through the blood of Jesus we have the freedom to live. It was a forceful and poignant speech, of course with some humor as well, that has resonated across the internet this week. It was a prime example of someone using their platform to point others to God.

Sharing our faith publicly can be one of the most daunting fears to overcome in life. It combines the fear of rejection, career consequences, family strain, and the unknown all into one. But when we take our assurances from God and not man, we can rest assured that our future will be bright. God loves a faithful heart and part of that means sharing our faith with others. In Psalm 96 it says, “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.” When we declare His glory, our words have true power and reverberate around the world – and up to heaven! Therefore, the height or size of our platform matters not when proclaiming the Good News. What matters is the heart from which the Good News pours out. Today, make it a point to tell someone about Jesus and proclaim His goodness and mercy.

Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.” – Psalm 96:3 NKJV
