A new debate over another potential government shutdown seems to be looming on the horizon, a high-stakes and very public negotiation that always seems to end in bitterness and little tangible progress. As both sides of the political aisle begin digging their heels into their respective sides, it is important for us to remain unswayed by obvious partisan talking points. The weakest minds are swept away by the seductive words of men and women in power, but the strong remain true to the word of God. Proverbs 4:24 reminds us, “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.” Today, keep your eyes focused forward on Jesus, and not distracted to the left or right.
