By midweek, many of us are already feeling beaten down by long hours of work, deadlines, and stress. We tend to wear our fatigue like a heavy overcoat in the summer, weighing us down as well as overheating us. It becomes all too easy to just snap under the pressure. Fatigue can be a source of pride or a ball and chain. When we are doing the Lord’s work, and seeing how our efforts create a real impact on our surroundings, our minds and bodies respond differently to fatigue than to that which comes from pointless work. However, regardless if we are working for the Lord or not, we all need rest, and there is no better place to look than to God’s presence. In Isaiah, it says, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” God’s presence is the single place where we all can find true rejuvenation of the mind, body, and soul. Today, take a few minutes to sit quietly with God and spend the quality time you have been missing with Him this week.

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” — Isaiah 40:29
