In the news everyday are stories of broken promises, changed minds, and shirking of responsibility by people, and because it is in the news, it is usually a story with either big political consequences or disastrous results. We all face the same challenges in life – when someone we counted on leaves us hanging or a relationship fails because someone changed their minds. This is because we are human and inherently fallible, gullible, and selfish, among other descriptors. But though we are made in His likeness, our God is not human and therefore does not change His mind on a whim or under political or social pressure. In Numbers, it says, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” True peace happens when promises are kept and no amount of outside pressure can change that binding resolution. There is only one place where true and lasting peace is found and that is with God. Because God will never turn from His promises to us, we can forever trust in the peace we have in Him. Today, give thanks to God for always keeping His promises for good for us and reaffirm your commitment to follow His word over all other’s.

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” – Numbers 23:19
