Merry Christmas Eve! As we look forward to the Christmas holiday tomorrow, we also give thanks for the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus is not only our Lord and Savior though, he is also the physical embodiment of the greatest of God’s promises to us. In Isaiah, God promised us that a child would be born on whose shoulders the government (and world) will rest. He would be the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace that we all need to play an active role in our lives. For those of us who know Jesus personally, we know this to be true: He is everything God promised us and more. Today, give thanks to God for His goodness in giving us his son.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6
