The presidential race is off to a contentious start already as dozens of candidates are jockeying for position against each other. They all seek the highest office in our land and seek to get there by showing their leadership skills. We can sometimes be captivated by the loudest voice in the room or the smartest ideas in the bunch, but leadership is not really a result of either passion or ideas. Leadership is a result of humility because no one follows someone who is not willing to place others as more important than themselves. Even more importantly, God does not lift up those who are not first willing to humble themselves before Him. The Bible says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” Today, if you are seeking to lead others, first humble yourself before them. If you are seeking blessings from God, humble yourself before Him.
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” — James 4:10 NIV
