The increasing of tensions with Iran is leading news programs today as peace with the country is becoming less and less likely. With military action potentially looming, it can lead to strong feelings of anxiety, anger, and/or support. However, what our nation does in times like this is beyond the scope of any of us. A famous saying in sports and business is “Control you control-ables,” meaning that what you have power over, you should control, and what you do not, don’t worry about. We cannot control the peace of nations, but we can control our own peace in life by finding it in relationship with Jesus. When we have peace in Jesus, we are then able to spread it to others. When we have peace in Jesus, faith comes with it; and with faith is a powerful weapon against the things we cannot control: prayer. Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Today, find your own personal peace in Jesus so that you may spread it to others and lift up the nation in faithful prayer.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." – John 16:33 NIV
