These days most of the news cycles are made up of one political party saying or doing something and the other responding to it. This has happened for years now, but in recent years, the parties are not just disagreeing on policy, they are campaigning against the motives of the others. While it is true that not everyone has pure motives all of the time, it is a slippery slope when we begin impugning the motivations of others. We are meant to work together towards noble and righteous causes for the sake and benefit of others, not ourselves. In this pursuit, we can only be responsible for our own motives; the rest belongs to God. In Jeremiah, it says, “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” Today, if you find yourself engaged in the impugning of others’ character and motives, step back and remember that God is in control and He put you on this earth to be His ambassador and employee. Do His work and spread His name.

“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” – Jeremiah 17:10 ESV
