Remember the childhood game "telephone"? One person says something to another and they pass it around until it comes back to the original person; the message almost never remained the same. These days, the things we see and hear and not always the way things are. Because of political spin, bias, or other issues in the transmission of information, the messages we receive and the images we see cannot always be trusted. However, there is a reason that we often say something we aren’t sure about isn’t the “gospel” – it is because the gospel is the truth! Paul wrote to the Romans, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” There is no substitute for reading the gospel for yourself and knowing in your heart that it is, and always has been, the truth. The world is as fluid and changing as the tides of the oceans, but the Word of God is forever the same. Today, if you feel yourself being swayed this way or that by the things you see and hear in the media, cling tightly to the Gospel as the truth in all matters.

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” – Romans 10:17 ESV
