In an effort to live peacefully, it is tempting to just “tune out” or “sit back” or be generally apathetic. After all, if we do not care enough about what goes on around us, we can remain peaceful, right? Wrong. God did not create us to live peacefully ignorant. However, He also did not create us to live constantly at war — especially with each other. So how can we determine what we should stand and fight against and what we should ignore? Ephesians tells us to, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” God goes with us when we stand to fight against the schemes of the devil, but He shakes His head when we waste our time chasing after the noise of weak men. Prayer and faith will convict us to know the difference and we will hear God’s calling when He needs us to stand on His behalf. Today, rather than chase after every little thing we hear in the news, pray for conviction from God to know what is important to stand for.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” — Ephesians 6:11
