The House voted to impeach the President yesterday after months of contentious debate and a level of partisanship that has never been seen before in this country. Whatever comes next for our nation will depend upon the hearts of each person in this country and the things those hearts produce. Jesus taught that people are not corrupted by external influences or things they put into their bodies; they are corrupted by letting loose what is already in their own hearts. We all have the capacity for evil, sinful behavior because we are human; what we do depends on what we view as justifiable and necessary. Jesus said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” This is why giving our hearts fully to Jesus is so important, as a heart totally for Jesus produces goodness, righteousness, love, and understanding. What this nation needs are more people with a heart for Jesus instead of a heart for themselves. Today, pray for this nation and the people in it that they may in their hearts know Jesus as Lord.
