The world has a way of draining us. Whether it be from stress, exhaustion, confusion, or countless other things, a day spent “fighting the good fight” against all the world can throw at us is draining. Sometimes, it’s not enough to get a quick word or scripture in the mornings to sustain us through a day of toil. When the world is draining us fastest, we have to be turning to Jesus even more. Jesus is always capable of filling us faster than the world can drain us. Jesus said, ”Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Because the joy of the Lord is a filling experience, there needs to be room for the Lord to fill. Sometimes the way Jesus gives to us is to first take from us. So today, instead of seeing the draining effects the world has on us as a bad thing, view it as an opportunity for Jesus to fill us more.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27 NIV
