Public feuds between presidential candidates continue to capture the attention of the media, who debate and analyze the play-by-play of the verbal attacks and counterattacks around the clock. But is that any different today than it was in Jesus’ time? Even before His final hours, Jesus faced harsh criticisms from nay-sayers and doubters, most notably from those whose role on earth was to introduce people to God--the religious leaders! (How is that for some party in-fighting!) But when challenged, Jesus did not spew back attacks or diversions; He simply replied with the truth. He also didn't make it his life's mission to destroy the person attacking him; He knew who His Father was and the mission God had laid out for Him. Jesus passed that mission onto us, saying, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Our mission is too big to sacrifice in the name of politics and other earthly matters. It is too important to spend our time fighting back against someone who attacks us. There are people to be saved and lives to be changed. Today, pray for our country, its people, and especially for the missionaries and evangelists striving to create real change in the almighty name of Jesus.

"He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." -- Mark 16:15 NIV
