The nation has been struggling through this crisis with businesses, and churches, shut down. While the debate over the legality of such action will be settled in time, what is important now is that the members of the Church do not allow it to lose both its importance in our lives nor its ability to provide for those in need. When Paul was leaving the Ephesian church in Acts, he instructed them, “Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” The reason it is so important that the Church continue being the Church is because Jesus paid for it with his blood. Christ gave his life for ours and the Church exists to continue that work in his name. Today, pray for the Church as a whole and find ways to be the Church while its physical doors across the world are shut.

“Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” – Acts 20:28 ESV
