Changing our minds in life is a good thing – it allows for learning, growth, and wisdom. However, the influences that shape our thoughts are of the utmost importance. When we allow what we hear in the media, from political parties, or even our peers and friends to decide what we think over the word of God, the decisions we make as a result will not bring about peace in our lives. The Bible says, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.” When we find ourselves drifting too far politically, giving into our base instincts of anger and vengefulness, the renewing of our mind means the shedding of biases that distract us from God’s will. When we place Jesus as the center of our life and, importantly, allow him to work to renew us from the inside out, all bias, cruelty, and vengefulness will melt away leaving us more in the image of him who is within us than that is around us. Today, allow Jesus to renew your mind and ask him to remove the biases you hold that prevent you from seeing God’s will.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2
