“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.” – Psalm 37:7 NLT

The world saw another tragedy on Monday with the terrorist attack in Manchester, UK, and once again was plunged into finger-pointing, heated rhetoric, and grandstanding from those with the loudest and farthest-reaching voices. From a human perspective, these reactions are very understandable and normal, as fear, anger, and sorrow have taken root once more in our culture. However, Jesus calls us to trust completely in Him. When the circumstances around us seem most dire and out of our control, those are the moments when Jesus is present. Psalm 37 calls us to “wait patiently for him to act”. To be patient in challenging or confusing situations is to trust what Jesus is doing behind the scenes over what society is doing right in front of our eyes.
