This Monday morning, we wake up to the continued saga of Donald Trump, Jr.'s meeting with a Russian lawyer. On many of the major news networks, as well as social media, countless people have voiced their opinions on the developing story. Some of these opinions have been constructive, objective, and informative -- allowing us all to better understand what is happening. Other opinions have been close-minded, malicious, and obfuscating, attempting to end the search for truth in favor of immediate action. In a heated political climate like today's, there is incredible opportunity for the loudest, brashest voices to assume leadership of the timid. These people who seek fame, wealth, and influence by sowing discord are not the hands and feet of Jesus, no matter how tempting it may be agree with them. Satan's shortcut to fame and influence is to provoke rage in others. If the enemy can get us angry, we are one step away from life-altering sin. Proverbs 15:18 says, "Hot tempers cause arguments, but patience brings peace." As Christians, we are told countless times by our God that we will suffer in life, things will not be easy, and that we will be tempted. However we are called to make the hard decisions that others cannot because through Christ we are strengthened. This morning, block out the angry voices and listen for Jesus. Pray for the patience to seek and find truth.
