It seems these days we can’t do much without first considering the political correctness of that action or what others will think of us. From the halls Congress to our very own churches, businesses, and even living rooms, the political atmosphere is palpable. With so much planning and presupposition forced upon what we say and do, the result is oftentimes a bland or obligatory message, or worse a paralysis of action. In Ephesians, Paul reminds us to “make the best of our time, because the days are evil.” This should be a wake-up call for all of us, as we have a very few number of days in this world. To waste our time bickering with each other or sit idly by in our churches is to shirk our Christ-given responsibility to be the light of the world. Life will be challenging and we will receive undue criticism occasionally, but glorifying Jesus through serving others creates purpose in our lives. Whether that purpose inspires a run for office or simply ladling soup at a homeless shelter, purpose requires action. So how do we make the best of our time? We act with purpose giving glory to God. Pray today for the courage and conviction to act when God presents an opportunity for you.
