As this week has worn on, the people affected by Hurricane Irma have returned home to find destruction akin to that of Hurricane Harvey. The cost between the two hurricanes is estimated to be astronomical, and that is purely for the bricks and mortar to rebuild what was physically lost. However a total physical loss often has emotional and spiritual consequences as well. When the walls of your home are literally caved in, it can feel like the walls of your mind are, too. However, in Jesus there is hope. Stuck in an immediate future of uncertainty, these victims of the storms have one certainty: Jesus is closer to them now than ever. But what does it say about us, His followers, if our Lord and Savior is the only one paying them attention? Where Jesus looks, so should we. Pray today for those affected by the storms that they may feel Jesus present in their lives and cling tightly to Him as their rock. Pray for the means and ability to help these people as much as we can.

“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” – Matthew 6:24 ESV
