Happy #ElevatedFriday, the day we take a look at a positive news story that went largely unnoticed during the week. Most of the stories we highlight here are small acts of kindness by regular people around our country, and today is no different. However, it is because this story is so simple and small that it deserves to be praised.

At the Chicago Cubs vs. Washington Nationals playoff baseball game this week, two brothers noticed an elderly couple having trouble navigating the crowded bleachers to get to their seats. For the entire game, these brothers helped escort the couple to and from their seats safely. Going the extra mile to make an impact, whenever the crowd would stand up during the game, one brother would help the elderly couple up, while the other would remain seated--so they could see the field.

Such simple but thoughtful kindness made the day for that couple, who coincidentally were there to enjoy the game after some grueling chemotherapy undergone by the husband. This story shows the incredible impact simple acts of selflessness can have as well as underlines the the fact that we never know what battles someone else is going through until we connect with them through kindness. In Colossians it says, "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." We do not have to give extravagantly or dramatically to make an impact on another person. Good deeds don't have to be big to be appreciated. Today, pray for a spirit of kindness that motivates you to live a Colossians 3:12 life.
