Attorney General Jeff Sessions testified before the House Judiciary Committee yesterday as part of Congress' oversight and check to the power we as a nation give to our government. Power is an interesting thing; it is something many crave and spend a lifetime pursuing. Some pursue it by means of elected office, others through money or fame. But what is power? One could say power is the capacity to influence others or the events surrounding us. If that's the case, then it begs the question: if we obtain power in our lives, how are we influencing those around us? Isaiah tells us that "[The Lord] gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." If we spend our lives pursuing worldly power, that which is bestowed by money, fame, or governmental authority, we will fail to receive the power bestowed by God. However, if we pursue, and patiently wait for, God, then He just may empower some of us to be the leaders of our generations. Today, pursue God and ask for a renewal of your strength in His name.

"He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." -- Isaiah 40: 29-31 ESV
