Happy #ElevatedFriday! Today we highlight a story of giving to those less fortunate in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Twelfth grade teacher Nathan Neidigk is a widower father whose 2-year-old son was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Due to his financial constraints from treatment for his son, Nathan is unable give any gifts to his son for Christmas this year. However, when his class of 12th graders found this out, they organized and together bought his son a Nintendo Switch gaming console, two games, and a case -- something many children this year want. Going further, they set up a GoFundMe page which has already raised $13k of the $30k goal for the cancer treatments. The love this class of seniors showed for a beloved teacher and his son is truly inspiring.

The theme of giving to those in need is heralded throughout the Bible because it is a concrete way to draw close to the heart of God. In Proverbs, it says, "Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed." Today, pray for guidance for how to best use your resources to help those in need in this season of giving.

"Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed." -- Proverbs 19:17 ESV
