Merry Christmas! On this day, we as Christians celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, whom God sent to Earth to save us from our sins. Traditionally, we celebrate this special day by giving gifts to each other, in much the same way as the three wise men did for baby Jesus. But for we whose life calling centers around the proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ, this day means so much more. As written in the gospel of Luke about the birth of Christ, “And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” The greatest gift that has ever been given is that of Jesus by our Father; therefore, today the greatest we can give to those around us is also Jesus. Give the gift of the good news of Jesus Christ today and affirm this day as a day of good news and hope.
