As Congress and the White House debate immigration, choosing a side to support is human nature. God created us all with free will and from that stems our opinions on various topics. However where we go awry of God’s intentions is when we view the “other team” as our enemy. In Matthew, Jesus says, “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” God’s love extends to all mankind, and furthermore He controls everything. He “makes the sun rise on the evil and on the good.” When we attempt to wrestle control from God, calamity always ensues. Today, rather than get worked up over what is going on in our country, give it back to God, sit back and rest in Him, for He is the one who is rightfully in control.

“But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” – Matthew 5:44-45 ESV
