As investigations into many people in and around Washington continue, many are calling for transparency and for investigators to “get to the bottom of things.” This is no easy task, as it involves diving into the private lives of people. It is difficult for us to understand the things others do in private, as we all have a private life that we allow few, if any, to ever see. Part of understanding the private life of another, or even ourselves, revolves around understanding what motivates us. Some people give because they are genuinely generous, while others give because they desire something in return. Some build enormously profitable businesses because they are greedy while others desire an engine through which they can empower others. One thing we can rest assured of is that God sees and understands all. In Matthew, Jesus said, “Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Today, pray for God to align your heart with his wishes so that what you do in secret will be Godly and pure.

“Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” – Matthew 6:4 NIV
