Today, through the use of social media, opinions can fly around the world in the time it takes to hit the “Enter” button on your keyboard. We have all felt the brunt end of undue or overly cruel criticism at some point in our lives, even when we felt justified for what we did but others did not agree. One of the most powerful facets of Jesus is that he was fully human as well as fully God, and as a result of his human-ness, he truly felt the harsh stings of public scorn and disdain. Whatever we are going through in life, Jesus went through it too – and in a much greater way. Our problems, though they may cast an indefinite shadow over us, have been faced before by the same person who overcame this world and all the strife it had to give. In his final days on earth, Jesus said, “Everyone will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life.” The only way to find freedom from our critics is to transcend them in Jesus. When we stand firmly and unshakably with Jesus, no weapon formed can bring us down. Today, take a step closer to Jesus and stand firmly with Him, come what may.

“Everyone will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life.” – Luke 21: 17-19 NIV
