Yesterday, the White House awarded the National Teacher of the Year award, and in doing so, praised the work of the countless teachers across the country who work so hard to make a positive difference in the lives of the next generation. While science, math, language, and other subjects are important in the education of children, in our homes, we often forget the most important kind of teaching: morals. Without a strong moral educator in a child’s home, they will learn their morals elsewhere – in movies, TV, or otherwise. Since most of us are not child psychologists or parental experts, it can be a daunting task to raise a child right. Fortunately, we have the Bible, the perfect word of God. Paul wrote in his second letter to Timothy, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” When in doubt, lean on the teachings of the Bible and your path will be righteous. Today, pick up your Bible and read with the expectation of learning something new.
