In the wake of the first meeting between President Trump and Kim Jong-Un, some are still frustrated by how long the peace process is taking, as well as if North Korea is serious about a real, lasting peace. Patience is one of the most challenging virtues in life to learn, and often is the one virtue that we never seem to fully grasp, despite our telling ourselves we understand it. Waiting for things in life to get better can seem like an eternity. But when we place our faith in the Lord, the first thing to change is our concept of eternity. When we know we have a place in Heaven waiting for us for all eternity, waiting months, years, or even decades becomes bearable. In Psalm 130, it says “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.” These verses tell a different tale of waiting. When we wait upon the Lord and not other people, luck, or ourselves to improve our situation, our waiting becomes anticipation. Just as the watchman knows for certain the morning light will come, so we also know that God will command the sun to rise on our problems. Therefore we anticipate it, instead of just waiting. Today, give what is troubling you to God and anticipate His blessings upon it.
