Political rhetoric is changing into personal attacks these days from both sides of the aisle and is leading us all into a more ugly and divided society. There is tremendous anger bubbling under the surface of our country, and recently it has only taken a small issue to make it boil over. This is the consequence of living a life rooted in feeling instead of faith. When we live according to how we feel about certain things, we are ripe for picking by the enemy, leading to disastrous ends. In Psalm 139 it says, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Our feelings will forever rule us when we are not grounded in the One who overcame this world. Today ask God to test your heart and replace your feelings with undaunted faith.

“Search me, God, and know my heart;

test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” — Psalm 139:23-24 NIV
