We hear each day in the news and on social media countless loud voices, angry over politics or some societal ill. It is sad that these are the voices that receive the most coverage, but it need not be so. If we, for a moment, look at Jesus not as the Son of God but as a man who walked the earth, we can see that he lived a life that forever changed the world and created a following for all time through the simple act of love. Jesus never stormed a city and demanded all bow down to him. He never commanded his followers to swarm the houses of non-believers. He never used the platform he was given to speak ill of others in order to elevate his own stature. Jesus proved with his own demeanor that with a calm spirit and love for all, we can change the world. He proclaimed such in his Sermon on the Mount, saying, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” Today, let go of any bitterness you hold for those you disagree with and allow Jesus to create within you a spirit of gentleness.

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” — Matthew 5:5 NIV
