We all have core beliefs that guide our lives in general as well as opinions, which are more temporary and short term. Often our opinions are a moving target—evolving and changing as we grow, mature, and experience new challenges in life. Sometimes, our beliefs change, too. One of the things that makes us uniquely human is that we are changeable. Sometimes that change is for good but other times we are led astray and change for the worse. But we are so blessed to have a Savior in Jesus that is unchangeable. In Hebrews, it says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Consider how your opinions on other people change from week to week or month to month. What if our salvation was according to how Jesus felt about us that day? Thank the Good Lord that it is not. However, the way we treat each other often is determined by how we feel or think about each other. As we all strive to be more like Jesus, remember that to be like Him means to forgive, embrace, and show love to all people at all times — not just when we agree with them or like them that day.
