Everyday, we awake for a new day whose minutes and hours will be filled with something — sometimes blessings, sometimes struggles, and sometimes unmemorable events. However when was the last time you just gave thanks for having another day to live? We often fall into a rhythm in our prayers, lifting up our family, friends, careers, sicknesses and struggles as well as blessings. But all of those things would not be possible without another day to live. In 1 Thessalonians, it says, “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Another way of saying “give thanks in all circumstances” is to just give thanks for another day — no matter what may happen in it. When we view each day as a gift, what happens in the minutes and hours becomes less and less important. Today, give thanks first for the blessing of another day and make the most it’s minutes and hours to give praise to Jesus.

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV
