Elevated Friday, September 13th, 2019

Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story of a group of people who collectively changed their course in order to help others in need. Vacations are something we all look forward to, and when we have the opportunity to take them, we cherish every moment. A group of passengers who felt the same way was all set to cruise in luxury from Florida to the Bahamas; however, because of the destruction left by Hurricane Dorian, the cruise ship’s crew and guests collectively decided to donate their vacation time to preparing and delivering meals to the Bahamians in need. To volunteer to do back-breaking labor in the intense heat of the Caribbean islands is one thing, but to volunteer when you had already planned, and paid, to have a relaxing week of luxury is quite another. These guests and crew showed what it means to sacrifice in favor of those in need.

Jesus said in Matthew, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” He was, of course, speaking about the end of times, but his words ring true in other senses as well. We all go about our lives and try our best to be good to each other and those in need, but every once in a while something happens that only God foresaw. In those times, it is even more important than ever to be listening for God’s voice as He will bring blessings to those in need through those He calls. Because this is the case, we need to be ever-ready to say, “Yes, Lord, send me” on a moment’s notice. Today, listen to God speak to you and ask Him for guidance on where He wants you to be.
