People these days have never been more isolated or felt more alone, despite having more methods to communicate quickly than ever. Contrary to what many believed, these forms of communication have only made it more difficult to communicate the important things in life. One of the most important things we receive in life from our friends is honesty — when we’re doing great, when we are slipping, and when we at our lowest points. But in order for the honesty to be well received, it must come from a place of love. Proverbs says, “Better is open rebuke, than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” Friendship requires the kind of honesty that only comes from deep love. Today, be honest with the ones you love when you know they need it.

“Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” — Proverbs 27:5-6 NIV
